Author Bio

Caroline's debut novel 'Beyond The Door' was inspired by her love for Scotland, history, reading and research into her ancestors, the Chisholms. Other passions of travel and walking brought her to an old rundown Inn which obviously had many tales to tell. The ambition to become a published author had been in the background for many years, and like most, finding the time was the hardest part.

Based in the Highlands, Caroline spends any time not writing, walking her three Italian Greyhounds who love the lochs and mountains as much as she does. There are four in this series of novels published.

There will be six novels in the series as outlines get tweaked by the characters! They are based on a period from 1742 onwards. A very turbulent time in Scotland’s history, with a civil war that changed the country forever. The Jacobites wanted a Stuart back on the throne and their one last hope, a charismatic young man Charles Edward Stuart. The story is told from the Jacobite’s point of view, with an insight to those who were neutral or Hanoverian supporters, as the Chisholm Clan stood on both sides of the battlefield during the conflict. They are tales of a family trying to adapt to the changes that lay ahead and keep the Highlander way of life, and the struggles of a 20th century lassie choosing the 18th century in turmoil to follow her destiny.
